Coffee Bar Now Taking Applications For New SoMa Nighttime Restaurant Concept

New, 1 comment

The growing Coffee Bar empire has recently turned the former What's Up Dog Diner space at Howard and 12th into a commissary kitchen, and they're looking for a restaurant concept to run out of its 40-seat space "7 afternoon/evenings a week with a monthly rent of approximately $4K." Lauren Geremia, who recently wrapped up the very stylish decor at Churchill, is currently putting the finishing touches on the redesign of the space. Downs says it has two huge sliding windows that open up to pedestrian traffic. It's a minimal, yet slick design (as one would expect from Geremia), but they're expecting the future tenant to add their own finishing brand flourishes.

Coffee Bar definitely wants a pop-up restaurant or food truck that has an established following to come on board, and they've already reached out to several free agents around town to assess early interest. We imagine Joanna Karlinsky Sweet Jo's pop-up, which has been bouncing around lately, would be interested. Three Babes Bakeshop is in limbo since splitting with Bacon Bacon earlier this month, and there are many other pop-up contenders to consider without even cracking the surface of any hopeful food trucks out there. The very decent 4K/month rent comes with and in-the-works beer and wine license. Interested parties will want to contact email Nathan Downs directly. Who do you think should go into the space?
