Southern%20Pacific%20Smokehouse%20Shutter.jpgEight-month-old Novato restaurant and live music venue Southern Pacific Smokehouse has gone dark. The news is particularly surprising because the business appeared to be primed for success. It had two heavyweight owners in country musician Philip Claypool and one-time CEO of The PlumpJack Group Rick Riess, a very expensive $2.5M build out, Bauer's premonition that it would have "wide appeal" as a chain, and a very warm reception in Marin. Facebook comments bring up Philip Claypool's earlier exodus from the concept as a harbinger of the closure and Inside Scoop adds that there are "rumors swirling around about the future tenants," even though the restaurant's closure announcement says they hope "to reopen as soon as possible." More as we know it. [Novato Patch, ISSF, Facebook]
