Nob Hill neighbors of the Ritz-Carlton got a sneak peek at Parallel 37 last night, a chance to chat with chef Ron Siegel, nibble on some appetizers and try out new cocktails by Camber Lay. Eater tried not to disturb the fancy pants guests and instead hung out with the press including Spud Hilton, Kathleen Jay, and Liam Mayclem. Our pick on the opening cocktail menu has to be the suavely sexy Bar Fly, with Bulleit bourbon, benedictine, fresh poblano pepper, vanilla and lemon. The menu has a definite winter citrus vibe, with lemon or lime making into just about every drink. Pucker up!

In addition to star bartender fire power, Siegel has pulled in the big guns, including snagging cook Chris Kajioka who previously worked with him at the Dining Room and was most recently at Aziza. A rising star from Honolulu, Chris tells us he's excited about everything on the menu and enjoying working with the Japanese ingredients Siegel is famous for incorporating into his menus. Current obsession? Seaweed! Add it to your list for 2012 food trends.

Notable bites from the menu included spinach puffs, an Asian version of crispy skin chicken and seared (kobe?) beef. We're looking forward to the pulled pork slider which Siegel tells us has a kick ass coleslaw.
