TENDERLOIN - The bbq explosion we've got going continues with the cutely and aptly named Hyde Away Blues BBQ about to open at 457 Hyde Street. We defer to Tenderblog for tales from a pre-opening test dinner/party, gumbo, et al. Opening may happen before the end of the month here and Facebook can keep you abreast. [Tenderblog]
RUSSIAN HILL - Jon and Rebecca Rader's Campanula project in the former Iluna Basque space looks very close to opening, according to an Eater tipster. The Rader's also own Frascati and will work with chef Mike Pawlik to create a similar posh, neighborhoody vibe here. According to Inside Scoop, the restaurant will have American-Mediterranean small plates and cocktails by Trick Dog partner Jason Henton. Our tipster adds, "last week there was a sign up interviewing for all positions...outside of the sign change out front i never would have known it was a different restaurant [sic]" Do drop us a line if you witness further movements. MARINA - Tortilla Heights owner Paul Owens just got a Type 48 License for The Gypsy Tea Room thing he's planning to open at Gravity's address (3251 Scott Street). So there will be booze, and probably dancing and maybe no tea. [EaterWire]
CASTRO - GrubStreet notes another location of healthy and somewhat costly cafe Beautifull! is coming to the former Gold's Gym space on Market Street. Opening forecast: about a month from now. [GrubStreet]
BERNAL HEIGHTS - Dolores Park Cafe and Duboce Park Cafe owner Rachel Herbert has hit some snags with the opening of the Precita Park Cafe going into the old Rite Way Market corner spot. The Planning Department has been slow in passing on a permit, so construction has not yet begun, although the hope right now is to be open by the end of May or early June. Herbert says the concept will be different from her other two cafes, although it's not fully fleshed at this point. [EaterWire]
NORTH BEACH - The stallion and French mirror bedecked Monroe, we unveiled in January is going to open some time in the next few weeks, according to GrubStreet. But the guest list is now in soft-launch mode. [GrubStreet]
