Here's your first look at the very nice view from Real Restaurant Group's forthcoming Bar Bocce restaurant on the Sausalito waterfront. We leaked the news back in March that Robert Price of Real Restaurant's Buckeye Roadhouse and Bungalow 44 will oversee the kitchen here. According to partner Bill Higgins the menu will center around a unique new style of pizza with sourdough crust that's "more of a meal in itself" with toppings like Dungeness crab, Meyer Lemon and avocado creme fraiche or pork sausage, fennel pollen and scallions. There will be 12 wines and four beers on tap and cocktails made with beer, wine and fortified wines like sherry and vermouth. As you can see above, the 22-seat outdoor area will boast a large pergola overhead, a fire pit and a bocce court, all of which promises to be a big draw.
Though the final menu is still under wraps, we had a peek at Price's preliminary menu, revealing non-pizza options will also be quite substantial and interesting. A roast chicken and something like eggplant parm or lasagna will be offered from the oven, sandwich options include a rock shrimp “po boy,” there will be meatballs, seasonal appetizers and there's even talk of winesicles for dessert. Opening day here will fall somewhere between March 7th and 15th. Meanwhile, they're accepting applications for servers, food runners and cashiers via Craigslist. We'll pass on more information on menu and interior as things materialize.
