Southern Pacific Brewing Company to the Mission, Way More

THE MISSION - Although it's hit a good number of pre-opening SNAFUs, Treat Street's forthcoming Southern Pacific Brewing Company first mentioned in June, is gearing up for a spring opening. Expect "fresh as can be" beer, a big back patio and locally sourced, affordable pub fare. This could be big, people. [ISSF, Mission Loc@l]

THE MISSION EXTRA - Mission Cheese is continuing a build-out at 736 Valencia. Sounds as if there will a good amount of salvaged wood, Heath tiles, and local cheese favorites like Bayley Hazen Blue, Capricious, Cirrus, Appalachian and Red Hawk in the house when the shop opens in mid-March. [EaterWire]

OAKLAND - Four Seasons Palo Alto chef Edward Higgins is planning to open a modern Italian restaurant called Baia in Old Oakland. The menu will take a lot of its inspiration from what Higgins cooked at the acclaimed Insieme with Marco Canora a few years ago. Signore Lucchesi has more on all this. [ISSF]

LA BOULANGE - Pascal Rigo's local French cafe chain currently has 13 locations and he's now planning to open one in Union Square and one in Burlingame. Remember the Inner Suset Boulange has been canceled. [ISSF]

TENDERLOIN - We've been wondering about the fate of Bambuddha's address since the lounge/restaurant shuttered in May, and GrubStreet brings word of an unnamed "edgy gastro-lounge" the owners of Mighty are planning to create here with the help of Gitane architect Mister Important Design. Madame Hopper also has news on the chef. [GrubStreet, Tablehopper]

HAYES VALLEY/CIVIC CENTER - After over 20 years in business at 1122 Post Street, Maharani Indian restaurant will be closing. A company called Bitters Bock and Rye has applied for a brew-pub license at the space, although no DBA is listed at this time. [EaterWire, GrubStreet, earlier]

CIVIC CENTER EXTRA - The Holly Horn Comedy Club opened by Holly Horn and Kjell Qvale in October dramatically shuttered just about one month later. And now, Qvale tells GrubStreet about his plans to open a restaurant called The Showroom there in homage to the many years he spent as a car salesman. Horn seems to have left the building.
