Updates on Locanda, Txoko, Il Cantuccio, More!

MISSION - Craig Stoll's forthcoming Locanda restaurant -- you know the Roman osteria with the Italian-themed cocktails and pizza bianca -- looks like it'll be a little late for its expected March opening. Architects Envelope A + D are now predicting "early April" with this update: "the flooring is in, bathroom tile is wrapping up, bar top is installed and the rest of the cabinetry is going in, light fixtures are being trimmed out, painting is ongoing, most of the equipment is arriving this week. A lot is happening!" [EaterWire]

MISSION EXTRA - According to an Eater tipster, "Some sort of construction appears to be starting today in the old Il Cantuccio [(3228 16th St)] on 16th St. No signs are up, any idea what it might be?" [EaterWire]

NORTH BEACH - Today the Naked Lunch guys, Ian Begg and Ryan Maxey, started painting and renovating the former Enrico's for their in-the-works San Sebastián style tapas spot Txoko. [EaterWire]

PAC WHITE - The Vietnamese sandwich spot moving into the former Tango Gelato on Fillmore will be called Bun Mee. And it shall be "a gourmet bahn mi experience" befitting it's Pacfic Heights environs. Owner Denise Tran is working on an ahi tuna bahn mi and a delicious-sounding number with caramel braised pork belly and egg. They're hoping to open next month. [GrubStreet, ISSF]

HeathTileWall.jpgTHE MISSION - Mission Cheese has completed work on this nice-looking Heath tile wall here. Custom cabinetry is being put in; the floors have been stained and now they're looking for cheesemongers and other such passionate cheese folk to man the shop. More information on the application process here. [Mission Cheese]

NOE - After walking out on a deal in Ashbury Heights, Bliss Bakery gluten-free bake shop has plans to move in at 1414 Castro by June. In addition to cakes, brownies, cupcakes and such, the shop also vends vegan savory items and kombucha on-tap. [ISSF]

THE CASTRO - The Bloodhound and Double Dutch owners now have their license to operate as a nightclub in the former Bar on Church space, so construction, etc. should start momentarily. The name of their forthcoming business is still TBD. [EaterWire]
