Berkeley's Birdland relaunched as a private members-only club called The Birdland Jazzista Social Club on Friday night. The private Filipino bbq turned recurring free food and and live jazz street party, had to shut down in December because they didn't have a permit. Now that the rules have been clarified, the man behind Birdland, Michael Parayno is operating out of his garage, backyard and driveway, accepting membership fees between $0 and $1000. According to the new website, there are hookah/shisha lounges in the backyard. Movie nights, boxing pay per view nights and workshops for kids and their parents will be added this year. [EBX]
