We've got a taker for the vacant Kasa location in the Marina: Nick Fasanella of Taco Shop at Underdogs fame will be moving in with Tacko, a counter-service taqueria idea he plans to expand all over the East Coast. The name Tacko references ACK, the airport abbreviation for Nantucket, where Fasanella already has a deal set up to open the second branch on Pumpkin Pond Farm in the summer of 2012. The decor designed by Nick's step mom, Westport, CT architect Trudy Dujardin will reflect Fasanella's East Coast roots. The exterior will be painted Nantucket gray with Essex green flower boxes. Inside will have a bit more of a nautical theme to represent his passion for sailboat racing and home on a Sausalito houseboat.
The tacos menu will be similar to the one at Taco Shop at Underdogs plus two lobster roll options: "north" with chile-buttered meat in a toasted Acme torpedo roll and "south" with lobster, refried beans, avocado and cilantro on a torta. There will be beer, wine and maybe even some agave margs at time of opening, probably in May. Keep in mind, Mamacita and Tacolicious already have the Mexican genre covered in the nabe, but the Marina/Cow Hollow has yet to prove they're maxed out on tacos.
