After throwing his 40th birthday party at El Paseo earlier this month, Tyler Florence tweeted about the Saturday opening of his long-awaited collaboration project with former Van Halen rocker and "Mr. Cabo Wabo" Sammy Hagar. Remember Ty-Flo has been vocal about his big plans to totally redo the historic Mill Valley restaurant, transforming it from a Japanese-French fusion affair into a "rootsy, rustic" Chez Panisse-inspired one. Now recent findings reveal it is, in actuality, an "American steakhouse" where you can feast on numerous cuts from the Ty-Flo's preferred grass-fed Holstein cows. To clarify further, he was kind enough to tweet out the appetizer and chop board menus, complete with a $90 32 oz Porterhouse for two and Southern-inflected dishes like chicken fried steak with buttermilk crust. The chef de cuisine is former Jean-Georges and JoJo chef Preston Clark from New York.
According to Madame Tablehopper, steps have been made to create a very warm, cozy design with library-esque bathrooms, a gentlemanly front room, an artier back dining area, a zinc-touched bar and lounge set up in the adjoining cottage and a spacious outdoor patio, sure to be a hot destination among Tyler's fellow Marin residents. If you dropped in over the weekend, do grace us with early reflections in the comments.
