Bauerissimo is still talking about passion in the kitchen, this time at All Spice in San Mateo. He likens chef Sachin Chopra to Aziza's Mourad Lahlou and Piperade's Gerald Hirigoyen. Even though he serves some clunkers, like "rubbery scallops," "just about every dish had exceptional elements." Service is friendly; dessert "follow[s] the same intricate pathways" as dinner. And finally, "Chopra offers a menu that often takes familiar flavors and puts them in new context, creating the type of restaurant that would probably have lines out the door if it was in San Francisco." Overall rating: 2.5 stars. [Chron]
