Bun Mee Gets Gussied Up For April Opening on Fillmore

The Bun Mee eatery going into the former Tango Gelato spot on Fillmore Street painted its sign on yesterday. As you can see, the 20-seat nook is shaping up to be everything one would expect from a Vietnamese quick-service restaurant in Pacific Heights. With cute scooter logo, hip navy-and-red paint job and fluffy white dog, it's a far cry from the dirtier bánh mi slingers we've grown to know and love, like Saigon Sandwich in the Tenderloin. Heck even the name is smartly spelled so non-Vietnamese speakers will pronounce the sandwich the right way. According to Bun Mee staff, they'll be ready with "traditional and modern takes on street food and bánh mi inspired sandwiches" in early April. [Update: According to Thrillist, the joint will open on April 1.]
