THE MISSION- A May opening is in the cards for Bar Bambino's Pronto Café & Bakery at the ODC Theater. We passed on most of the details earlier; but you should know the outdoor seating area will be slightly larger than anticipated, wine and beer will be available on tap and Sightglass Coffee will be pulled on a Kees van der Westen espresso machine, similar to the one at Bar Bambino. Pronto will assume Bar Bambino's lunch service, which ended yesterday. The ODC concession kiosk will open concurrently, with the aforementioned housemade goodies from pastry chef Alyce Shields. We look forward to the popcorn with housemade caramel and peanuts. [EaterWire]
NORTH BEACH - Since the Jazz at Pearl's double shutter of 2008, there's finally a glimmer of hope for the future of the space. Landlord Peter Haramis has filed for a liquor license and may be looking to resurrect the Greek Taverna he operated here for about 20 years before Jazz at Pearl's ever existed. Of course there's always the possibility he's just sprucing up for potential lessees or buyers. We shall see. [ISSF]
TENDERLOIN - More on the impending transformation of 441 Club into Mr. Lew's into whatever the owners decide to call it next: Camper English says after the Bourbon & Branch owners reopen the space with a re-brand, the concept will probably expand upstairs, where there's a balcony and another large room. [Alcademics]
THE MISSION EXTRA - The casual American all-day restaurant Radish has secured the liquor license they applied for last year. Remember they'll have a neat-sounding curved horseshoe shaped bar. Tablehopper has more. [EaterWire, GrubStreet, Tablehopper]
OUTER SUNSET - SFoodie catches the sign for Mao Mao Kitchen, a (possibly Chinese) restaurant moving in at 2555 Judah with a liquor license. [SFoodie]
SAN CARLOS - The owners of San Mateo's Amalfi Coast-inspired restaurant Aqua Pazza are opening Locanda Positano at 617 Laurel Street next month. The menu will include Neapolitan pizzas baked in an American gas pizza oven by award-winning pizzaiolo Antonio Verdicchio. [EaterWire]
OAKLAND - Per Diablo, a second Get-A Sushi will be opening at 4301 Pietmont where Small Thyme Cafe is. Nearby, the "family friendly" Local Cafe is gearing up to replace the McMullen boutique. The menu will include sustainably sourced breakfast, lunch and dinner items along with good coffee and wine. [Diablo]
