Moving into the void left by Bambuddha at The Phoenix Hotel last year will be a new restaurant and lounge: Chambers Eat + Drink. Owners Sean and Isabel Manchester (Mighty) are bringing in Charles Doell, who's designed things like Gitane and more-recently Monroe, to create what he calls an "iconoclastic fusion of John Varvatos meets SoHo House meets vintage glam." Or how Sean Manchester likes to think of it: "Imagine if Steven Tyler bought a historical mansion and moved in."
Reptilian barstools, Louis XIV period settees, a Carrara marble bar and a gargantuan booth with room for 30 to 40 are all part of the plan. Madame Tablehopper broke word on the menu a bit ago from former Mission Beach Cafe chef Trevor Ogden. In summary: a modern and artistic American melange with small plates and an effort to use local ingredients. We should also probably mention that the entire pool/outdoor area will be redone with fire and water features and maybe even poolside brunch, eventually. And since we love a good rendering just as much as the next blog, check out Inside Scoop's hearty slew of them here. For now, the predicted opening of Chamber Eat + Drink is "in a few months."
