Rendevous Tapas Will Have A Go At 2080 Van Ness

Take a look this: the old Heights at 2080 Van Ness Avenue, still high on this brand new white paint job you see here. Soon, the address will enjoy something like its 12th turnover in recent memory to become Rendezvous Tapas. To quickly recap, the space has seen French, Italian, seafood, European, Cuban, Vietnamese and Moroccan themes in recent memory, but never a tapas restaurant! So perhaps this is just the thing to get the folks in Cow Hollow and Russian Hill over to Van Ness for dinner en masse. We last visited the site in 2009, when Tajine exited after a brief stint and the Heights started doing its nightclub thing again. Though the address has been called the most cursed in all of San Francisco, the new owners, Roger Lwin and Jerrold Gor are optimistic about tapas. They're currently sound padding the walls to cut the din in the future 50- to 60-seat dining room. An April opening is planned.
