The San Francisco Entertainment Commission has put forth a proposal that all venues with an occupancy of over 100 must record the faces and ID-scans of every person on the premises so they can hand it over to the police if need be. Obviously, this is an effort to curb nightclub violence, but the Electric Fronteir Foundation thinks it will turn SF into a "police state." and the California Music and Culture Association says this "one-size-fits-all" model won't be effective for all venues. The public hearing on all this goes down at City Hall tonight at 6:30. More here. [EaterWire, EFF, CMAC]
