Illy Master Barista in Residence and Italian Barista Champion Giorgio Milos is in town until tomorrow for the soft launch of San Francisco's second Prima Cosa Caffe at the Embarcadero Center. We just found out he'll be at the new, still-unopened location today at noon offering a coffee class of sorts along with a preview of the space. There will even be an expert foam-making demonstration and some freebies handed out to attendees. Now. When Milos isn't manning secret preview parties, he's teaching coffee’s history, agronomy, chemistry and such at illy’s internationally acknowledged Università del Caffe or traveling to conduct training sessions for Illy's biggest clients in the U.S., like the Four Seasons in NYC and Cafe Greco in SF. He's even been profiled by local rag The Bold Italic; and he regularly pens coffee-related pieces for The Atlantic. This man knows espresso; so it could be a fun lunch activity as time allows.

Prima Cosa has an already open location first location on Sutter and Market. They serve bread and baked goods from Semifreddis and an authentic menu of panini and not-so-authentic desserts, like cupcakes. This isn't your usual soy-serving, cappuccinos-in-paper-cups kind of place. Whole milk is served and sipping while walking is strongly discouraged. The new Embarcadero store will officially open on April 18th with regular hours from 6 a.m. until 6 p.m.
