NORTH BEACH - Nico's Tacos, the fusiony taco concept coming to Grant Ave., "appears to be open," according to a Tablehopper reader. The tacos take inspiration from all over the world. See the little branding story here on the website. Yelp has the first menu and one review, for those that like that type of thing. [Tablehopper, Yelp]
HAYES VALLEY - In what looks like an effort to keep up with izakaya madness, Sebo has reduced the amount of sushi on its menu (by 30%!) to make room for seven to ten cooked items. New dishes will be small, like cured, grilled horse mackerel. They've also started to take reservations through RezBook. [Tablehopper]
NAPA - Atlanta food critic Josh Kessler on chef Aaron London's food at Ubuntu: "There’s a feeling of reach in his cooking, with big flavors that stretch as far as they can go. If his food were a yoga posture, it would be Warrior 2 instead of the shava-asana you might associate with vegetarian fare." [AJC]
OAKLAND - Since food and bev operations built out of shipping containers appear to be all the rage these days, Modern Coffee will create a “mobile brew bar" called Coffee Container in a 20-foot former shipping container. It should be open for business in September on 13th Street, right next to the original Modern Coffee. [ISSF]
THE BRUNCH BUNCH - Madame Tablehopper brings word that Locavore (3215 Mission Street) will start serving Saturday brunch this weekend. They'll be adding the Sundays in three weeks later. [Tablehopper]
