Tulio's went out with a bang at Pier One, and now we learn that La Boulange will be spreading its little local empire out to the waterfront to take over the 1,500-square-foot space. Since owner Pascal Rigo's plans to bring La Boulange to the Inner Sunset went south, we haven't seen a new outpost in San Francisco since the big purple people eater entered Noe Valley in '09. And this one is bound to come with just as big a to-do as those that came before. Still with 13 other outposts around the Bay, Rigo has got this La Boulange roll-out thing down pat. Expect the Pier 1 iteration to surface in about three months with patio seating and one of the more extensive La Boulange menus in town. The mini-chain is also looking at future spots in Union Square, Walnut Creek and Burlingame.
