CASTRO - We've got an opening date for the new branch of health-minded prepared foods stop Beautifull! coming to the old Gold's Gym on Market Street. According to their SVP of operations it should open on the 20th "if all sign offs go well." [UPDATE: We are now told the 21st is the more probable opening day.] [EaterWire]
THE MISSION - Madame Hopper's intern found an actual sign for Giordano Bros. at soon-to-shutter Ti Couz. But the owner says the deal still isn't final. "Lots of moving parts." [Tablehopper]
BERNAL HEIGHTS - Madame Hopper notes the windows at Socha Cafe (3235 Mission) are papered up. There are new owners. No word yet on what's happening though. [UPDATE: GrubStreet reminds us that Dell'Uva will be moving into this space. Here's our report from last year, based on a chat with the Dell'Uva manager in North Beach. He told us they're planning a second outpost on Mission with some tweaks for the Bernal folks.] [Tablehopper, GrubSteet, EaterWire, earlier]
OAKLAND - The Rudy's Can't Fail Cafe coming to left-hand side of the Fox Theater should open at the tail end of the month. Inside Scoop notes the new joint will be a lot like the Emeryville location, save for its "10-person private dining booth, located within a stainless steel dining car with a private VIP entrance to the theater." Another bonus: monkey art. [ISSF]
BERKELEY - Phil’s Sliders will open at 2024 Shattuck next month with the tagline “more organic than In-N-Out, with a twist.” The menu consists of $2.00 sliders made with grass-fed beef, sides like poppyseed coleslaw and housemade shakes and sodas. Really it sounds nothing like In-N-Out, but enticing nonetheless. [Berkeleyside]
CORTE MADERA - The owners of Novato's well-received Boca Pizzeria & Wine Bar will open a location in the Village at Corte Madera before 2011 is out. Unlike the first location, the new Boca will have cocktails, wine on-tap. [Patch]
LAFAYETTE - The most asked question in Lafayette for the last five years? When will Whole Foods open. May 18th appears to be the answer. Here's the proof on Facebook. [TLF, Facebook]
