Bauer is back from the Beard Awards in New York and he has some things to say about the Manhattan food scene. He's comforted by the many white tablecloths on New York dinner tables; he raves about what Campton Place alum Daniel Humm is doing at Eleven Madison Park and the highlight of the trip is a crumb cake from Minetta Tavern, but he still leaves missing "good fava beans, asparagus and carrots." In summary, "Chefs on the East Coast need to manipulate the food to bring out maximum flavors, whereas many chefs on the West Coast are able to leave it pretty much alone." [ISSF]
