New, 2 comments

BOOZEWIRE - The spring edition of CUESA's Farmers Market Happy Hour is coming up next Wednesday, but this one's going to be bigger than ever before. There will be an erupting volcano cocktail from Smuggler’s Cove, for example, and 150 extra square feet of event space. The price has gone up $5 (to $40 per person), which includes three full cocktails, 12 cocktail samples, and 12 tastes from the likes of Beretta and 15 Romolo. Tickets here. [EaterWire]

ABC WIRE - Preparing, no doubt, for the impending debut of Amber Dara and its cocktail lounge, Dosa on Valencia street is trying to get a liquor license. Dosa's newer Fillmore Street location gets lots of play at its bar. And owner Emily Mitra notes, "Without this important consistency in our product offering, we feel our original location...will not remain financially successful over the long run." [Mission Loc@l]

COMING ATTRACTIONS - Millennium vegan and vegetarian restaurant is doing a Southern-themed five-course fixed price dinner next Wednesday. There will be more fried goodness than you'd normally expect from such a place and you can reserve by calling the restaurant. [v!]

QUOTE OF THE DAY - In this interview with the Sac Bee, Chicago uber chef Grant Achatz talks about working with Thomas Keller in the early days of his career and its effect on him: "The thing with The French Laundry is, I was there for so long and at such a critical, highly malleable stage in my youth and my life, as a person and as a cook. The short answer, honestly, is everything - everything from how to cook to how to live your life, I absorbed from him. When you're there for so long and you drink the Kool-Aid the way that I did, it's so entwined in you it becomes you." [Sac Bee]
