Reading Blockbuster Bauer's review of Francis Ford Coppola's new restaurant Rustic: Francis's Favorites, it's pretty clear he wants to like the place. Situated in the new "Disneyland of wineries" in Geyserville, "the view alone is worth the price of admission." But the food is all over the place. Ribs are "barely edible," pan-fried noodles were "so hard and dry that we picked them up to eat like a cracker." Then steak Florentina is "grilled perfectly" and pastas are "nicely balanced and pleasant." Service can be sloppy but Bauer sees past it because "Coppola is following his passion and sharing his soul." Two stars. [Chron]
