CHEF SHUFFLES - Remember when that young thing, Thomas Martinez replaced Ryan Scott at Mission Beach Cafe? Well since the restaurant is without chef once again, the now-25-year-old Martinez is back. Interestingly, he spent the last year or so helping Tim Holt on his Healdsburg farm and, most recently, at Weird Fish. Expect Martinez's "seasonal progressive" menu changes to show up at MBC in the next few weeks. [EaterWire]
FOOD TRUCKS - The Off the Grid food truck orgy is getting close to a launch in North Berkeley. Founder Matt Cohen tells the EBX an edition will be coming to North Shattuck at Rose as soon as June 1st. More on the expected vendors and a set launch date for OTG Berkeley should be revealed in the next week or so. [EBX]
POP-UPS - Eskender Aseged of Radio Africa is throwing a last hurrah dinner party in the Potrero Hill garden where it all began. SFoodie's got the whole menu written out, should you wish to attend. [SFoodie]
BURGER FACEOFF - On one of the smarter PR moves we've heard wind of lately, the new Fivetenburger drove its food truck right to the 7x7 offices so their food editors could sample the goods. Chef-owner Roland Robles cooked things to the perfect medium-rare, leading to the verdict: "It's refreshing to have a burger that's just a burger." Note to those who attended today's unofficial burger faceoff, we'd like to hear what these patties taste like when the owner's not kissing up. [7x7, EaterWire]
SANTA ROSA - Guy Fieri's sushi and bbq crowd-pleaser Tex Wasabi reopens today after a 20-month closure and "extensive" renovation. The restaurant's grand opening party won't happen until July, however, because Fieri's out of town until then on a book tour. [ISSF, Press Dem]
THE MISSION - GrubStreet reports the partners behind B³ have parted ways with the owners of their space on Valencia Street. One of them, Johnny Gato, is working on something new and it sounds like the joint might close or change completely. [GrubStreet]
