Sushi Ran Loosens Up Its Sushi Rules, Commis Gets A New Pastry Chef, Octopus Balls and More!

New, 2 comments

SAUSALITO - As of June 1, Sushi Ran will offer all available sushi and sashimi in all dining areas, including the patio. They're also now taking reservations for the patio and sushi bar. Hot. [EaterWire]

CHEF SHUFFLES - The man responsible for this devilish treat, Kyle Caporicci is the new pastry chef at Oakland star restaurant, Commis. The existing pastry man Carlos Salgado is moving to LA. [ISSF]

BREAD RISING - Josey Baker, of one-man Mission bakery Josey Baker Bread and blog fame, will start selling his fresh-baked bread outside Bi-Rite market on Wednesday and Thursday nights at 5 p.m. It's the first time Bi-Rite has done a partnership like this, and it's starting tonight. Now, if you're a fan of Josey's pocket breads with "all sorts of crazy shit" inside, you'll still have to get those at Mission Pie. [EaterWire, SFoodie]

SPINOFFS - Delica's Thursday Ferry Plaza Farmerk's Market stand, Takoyanen, will debut during tomorrow's weekly hullabaloo. They are only selling octopus takoyaki: "ping pong ball-sized batter balls filled with wild octopus and topped with a soy glaze, aonori (seaweed), bonito shavings, and served with a side of mayo." It's big in Japan, so trust. [EaterWire]
