Is The Mission Ready For Dr. Teeth and the Electric Mayhem?

As previously noted, Bissap Baobab will move out of its Mission St. environs on June 1. The other side of the story comes from the owners of Bullitt and Tonic, who've decided to name their new venture here Dr. Teeth and the Electric Mayhem, after everyone's favorite Muppet band. "We think people will end up calling it Mayhem," says owner Duncan Ley, "But that's the full name." The bar and food program will be a lot like that at Bullit, which just added grilled cheese and tater tot bars, mind you.

But they're taking it in a—dare we say it—edgier Mission direction, putting a ghost pepper on one of the burgers and serving fried chicken with a jelly donut instead of the (more Russian Hill-appropriate?) waffles. They'll also have coffee service here, although they're not sure who's providing it yet. And there will be lots of seats to watch the game, with several TVs inside and two or three outdoor TVs planned for the sidewalk seating area. Michael Brennan (Zero Zero, Pasión) is imagining an interior that looks to the 70s/early 80s for inspiration—as opposed to the more 60s mod leanings at Bullitt. Expected opening date is July 1.
