The Kimpton Group's Ponzu "Asian tapas" restaurant will end its seven year run adjacent to the Serrano Hotel on May 29. In its heyday the restaurant birthed rising star chef Michelle Mah and nabbed 2.5 stars from Bauer, who called it "one of the few notable places that's close to the Golden Gate Theatre." But now its time for a redo. The restaurant will reopen under the same ownership as Jasper's Corner Tap, where chef Adam Carpenter will switch gears to a menu of "beer-friendly, tavern-inspired" fare. The interior will get an overhaul too and the whole shebang should reopen around the middle of July.
