Take a peek inside Kitchen Door, opening Tuesday in Napa's Oxbow Public Market from Martini House (RIP) vets Todd Humphries, Richard Miyashiro, Tim Seberson, and Christopher Litts. Now they're diving into a more casual niche with a soft-service restaurant (now we want ice cream... not to worry, they serve Strauss) serving multi-ethnic comfort food where you order at the counter and sit to be served, à la Il Cane Rosso.
The doors lead to a homey white dining room with hanging copper pans and antique cooking ware and canned goods-- très old school Americana. A long communal table and a wood fired oven and rotisserie center the room, where they cook items like ground lamb flatbread; Kobe burgers; and Korean style short ribs. We've heard their cream of mushroom soup is a spin old Martini House classic, saw a candy cap mushroom bread pudding on the dessert menu, and at the test dinner last night, the beef carpaccio with Himalayan truffle puree, crispy potato, arugula, and lemon aioli was a hit. Take a look at the menu here.
They also have back patio seating along the Napa River to suit your fancy. Should you venture to this new eatery, let us know what you think of it below or here, s'il vous plait.
