PRIDE - A few Castro restaurants are throwing out some specials in honor of Pride. There'll be an LGBT Wrap (lettuce, grilled chicken, basil and tomato) at the new Beautifull! location, half-price pitchers at Kasa, Leblon cachaca drink specials and models at Gingerfruit from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. on Saturday and—in addition to its later hours—Ike's Place is bringing back the Pride of Castro, stuffed with ham, turkey, melted brie, and dirty secret sauce. Do what you gotta do. [EaterWire]
THE MISSION - Nombe, a sort of trailblazer of the izakaya trend here in SF, is partnering with The Bold Italic on a private multi-course Japanese dinner paired with sake. Owners Mari Takahashi and Gil Payne will take time to speak to participants about all things izakaya. If you still don't know what that means—despite the all these recent openings—definitely consider attending. More here. [TBI]
FIDI - Bringing Sicily's age-old tuna hunting tradition to the FiDi, Palio d'Asti is now offering a "Head to Tailfin" three course menu and a la carte additions. Chef Dan Scherotter, who's had a soft spot for Italy since he studied at La Academia Italiana della Cucina in Bologna, is excited to feature myriad parts from whole local albacore, including the offal. He'll be preparing all parts of the fish with relatively traditional Sicilian cooking techniques. [EaterWire]
OAKLAND - Chop Bar's monthly pig roast has gotten so big that they've had to move it to the Linden Street Brewery. Pigs are brined for two days, roasted in a Caja China roasting box and served with multiple sides, and live music for $20. The next one is Sunday, July 17th starting at 4:30 p.m. Here's the new location. [EaterWire]
DISCOVERIES - And finally, Ruth Bourdain has cracked the Alice Waters code. [RB]
