Lots of buzz out there now about State Bird Provisions, an in-the-works restaurant marking the return of Stuart Brioza and Nicole Krasinski to restaurant land. The husband-and-wife chef team was last seen at Rubicon, which closed in 2008 after a 14-year run on Sacramento St.. And lets just say they've been sorely missed ever since. In a totally unexpected move, Brioza and Krasinsky have dreamt up a casual, very reasonably priced, small plates concept. They'll serve up a rotation of about 40 dishes, dim-sum-style, but the flavors and inspiration will come from all over the world. Madame Hopper mentions a few potential dishes, like beef top round with spicy eggplant and chicken hearts with salsa verde.
The restaurant will have about 50 seats and a shock of energy from the open kitchen. There's a big buildout in store at its future address next to The Fillmore. The opening is expected to happen around November. Check back in for the lastest developments.
