FALLING-OUTS - About a month ago, new Oakland restaurant 1015 Clay's owner Jesse Branstetter relayed a bunch of big plans for a build-out, brunch, dinner and a name change coming to the location before September. Just yesterday, Chowhound points to the latest drama on 1015's website, a post from Branstetter stating his "name, food, concept, and reputation are no longer associated with this address." The future is momentarily unclear. Tips go here as we mobilize to find more information. [Chowhound]
FOOD TRUCKS - Starting this Friday another BBQ player jumps on court. Smoke BBQ will bring a barbecue cheesesteak, slathered Philly-style, in Cheez Whiz, to the ARCO parking lot in the Castro. Twitter here. [Tablehopper]
COMING ATTRACTIONS -The Top of the Mark is going to start throwing theme nights every third Saturday of the month. Costumes are encouraged. This Saturday will kick things off with a "Black and White Night," then they'll really get into it with a pirate-themed Caribbean night on August 20th. The complete schedule of theme nights is here. HOOKAH WIRE - Madame Tablehopper talks about a new Lebanese spot called Arabian Nights that has boldly opened on Mission and 19th with a hookah lounge, even after all this. No one picked up the phone when she and the Eater scout team called, so perhaps it's not fully operational yet. If you know something, do tell . [Tablehopper, EaterWire]
SWITCHEROOS - Black Jet Baking Co., bakers of the famous artisanal "pop tarts" a.k.a. "hand pies" found at cafes across the city will take over the Alfieri Farms kiosk at the south end of the building on Aug. 15. It's just a short-term lease for now, but all concerned parties are hoping it'll turn into something bigger. [SFoodie]
