New, 1 comment

POP-UPS - Since Slim's has the live music thing down, they've decided to go into the pop-up restaurant business. They'll start hosting dinners on Mondays in August, with planned appearances to date from chef Alex Marsh a.k.a. The JetSetChef, Eskender Aseged's Radio Africa and Kitchen and—the people's choice award winner—Cathead's BBQ. There's more on the way, so look out. [The Feast, EaterWire]

FIDI - Breaking: FiDi bar Rickhouse is haunted: "Lots of staff members have had paranormal experiences here, especially in the basement," says bartender Russel Davis. [The Merc]

CRITICS PICKS - Diablo has released its list of the 101 Best Bites in the East Bay. It includes the new pop tarts at Tender Greens in Walnut Creek, the spinach bolani from Concord-based Bolani Afghan foods, the fried chicken at Casa Orinda and 98 other things. See if you agree. [Diablo]

DOPPELGANGERS - From The Examiner: "Whole Foods Market Inc. is launching a charitable organization that aims to provide children with access to healthy foods." My that does sound familiar. GrubStreet agrees. [Examiner]

DONE DEALS - The P.F. Chang guy pulled out of a potential Martini House deal a ways back, now Andy Florsheim, the restaurateur behind Spiaggia has moved in on the space. Florsheim is a Napa resident. He hasn't announced what he's going to do with his new acquisition yet. [ISSF]

FOR SALE - Lookie here, more Bernal Heights real estate for sale. This one's in an "anchor" location. Restaurant tenants encouraged. [Bernalwood]

BANH MI WIRE - If you live around the Panhandle or the Lower Haight, lucky you. The talented women of the Rice Paper Scissors/Mojo Bicycle Cafe pop-up are now offering free banh mi bicycle delivery to your doorstep on Thursday nights. Apparently the pork jerky ain't bad either. [SFoodie]
