What SF Won At Tales of the Cocktail, Besides Hangovers

Nothing to see here, just the Milagro ReFresh Pool Party at the Hotel Monteleone.

Sure it's a literal and figurative liquor-fueled orgy for the cream of our our country's bartender crop, but Tales of the Cocktail has a point. After all the daytime seminars like "history of the Mai Tai"—and yes, parties out the wazoo—everything gets tied up nice and neat with the Spirited Award® Ceremony. We'll call it the unofficial Emmy® Awards of the national cocktail scene. This year's edition happened to go down on Saturday night. Here are all the awards categories and nominees. As Zagat puts it, New York had a clean sweep of the major prizes, but San Francisco has a few accolades to call its own:

1) Best High Volume Cocktail Bar went to Rickhouse, the FiDi's two-year-old staple for all things cocktail.

2) Best American Brand Ambassador went to Jacques Bezuidenhout for his great work with Partida Tequila.

3) Best Cocktail Writing, Author went to the ever-effusive Camper English, who's work can be found in San Francisco mag, 7x7, his own blog Alcademics and elsewhere.

Now, if you were there, go pop an Advil or three.
