RESURRECTIONS - North Beach bums are well aware Dupont Thai (1398 Grant Ave.) has been closed for about a year now, but a nearby resident recently wrote in that it opened up a little bit ago with "no fanfare, no signs for new management, same chairs that have been sitting in the space during its closure. Standard Thai menu...It will have a lot to compete with since King of Thai Noodle a block away has $2 and $3 beers and $5 entrees. And Tuk tuk thai a 2 blocks away has good food, just not as cheap at King. Countdown is on until it disappears again unless they change something. [sic]" The Thai arm wrestle for Grant Street's hungry continues. [EaterWire]
THE SHUTTER - In case you didn't know, Levende East has closed in Oakland and the space is on the market. Pay your respects. [EaterWire]
THE SHUTTER EXTRA - Also ready to go belly-up is Go Fish, Cindy Pawlcyn's five-year-old St. Helena. She's planning to flip in a new Mediterranean concept called Brassica. The remodel will be starting asap and reopening should happen in August. [ISSF]
TODAY IN ANTHONY BOURDAIN - The lovably surly, one-and-only Anthony Bourdain will make one single appearance at Oakland's Paramount Theatre on October 21 at 8 p.m. Not much more is known about the show, other than the fact that there will be a "show" in some respect and the opportunity for an exclusive meet-and-greet afterwards. $37 Tickets go on sale on Ticketmaster on July 15th. [EaterWire]
WINE COUNTRY - Today a press release went out announcing The Restaurant at Meadowood's sommelier and wine director Rom Toulon will be moving on to become a wine consultant for wineries and restaurants. Perhaps the new gig will be a tad less stressful than working the floor at a three star Michelin restaurant. [EaterWire]
