After drawn-out, teary goodbyes to the long-standing Washbag last year, the space is ready to begin life anew as Bottle Cap. Co-owner Liz Ferro designed the interior to highlight sunny views of the park. The original warm walnut bar anchors a much lighter look that before. In the gallery above, see the tables Liz hand-stenciled and the wallpaper she chose to warm things up, among other things.
Two chefs, Dane Boryta (formerly of Sens) and Matt Sullivan (from Blue Plate) are conspiring on this rather straightforward California-inspired menu with comfort food leanings. Dane's best friend, bartender Pete Gowdy comes from Bourbon & Branch, creating a list of classic cocktails it's safe to assume will be prepared with some level of skill. The bar also offers eight beers on tap. Later this summer, Gowdy will release some barrel-aged cocktails too. Here's the bar menu as it stands now. Also take a moment for the preliminary website here. The restaurant is soft-open now for dinner service only. Official grand opening with trained staff, lunch and dinner hours is on Tuesday. Brunch is also on the way.
