Four Seasons Chef To Open Modern Italian Baia in SoMa

New, 6 comments

In February, the news leaked out that Edward Higgins, chef at Quattro at the Four Seasons in Palo Alto, would be opening a modern Italian restaurant in Oakland called Baia, or "bay" in Italian. Now Tablehopper learns that Higgins is actually going to open the restaurant in a TBA location in the Mission Bay neighborhood of SF. He's aiming to create a respite of a space with 49 or so seats, lots of light, and a "modern Sicilian" menu slant. Prior to cheffing at Quattro—which many epicures regard as the only reason to eat in Palo Alto—Higgins worked with Marco Canora, who you may recognize from Next Iron Chef or his continuing work at Hearth and Terroir in New York. These are all reasons Higgins' San Francisco venture will be one of the more anticipated restaurants to hit around spring of 2012, when the opening is planned.
