Fire Strikes People's Cafe on Haight Street

The inside of The People's Cafe on Haight Street was badly damaged by a fire this morning. Firemen on duty say it originated in the back of the True clothing store next door. The call came in at 4:59 this morning. At noon today they were about to turn things back over to the owners, who estimate they have about a month of repair work to do. The cause of the fire is still under investigation. One reader writes in, "Great greasy spoon food, wifi, and old Lefties...sad."
