A self-service "gourmet panini" spot called Hot Press has put up its website as it readies to open at 2966 Mission St., where Ana Dollar Store was. Owner Nael Khalil will offer all the basics: salads, soups, desserts, coffee and "local, homemade ice cream." The headliner, hot sandwiches, will be "full of crunch and flavor." According to his Facebook page, the menu is still "being pimped out," and the planned opening is "soon." The state of the Mission sandwich includes semi-nearby Pal's, Mr. Pickles, the Sandwich Shop and Wise Sons popping up now and again, among some remaining favorites. In other words, there are sandwiches out there, but more good ones are still much needed. If you've heard street buzz about Hot Press, do share.
