MINI-SHUTTERS - As part of its ongoing changes to menu and decor, Bar Tartine is closing its doors this week so they can bring in a 15,000-pound bread machine. This is just one of the final steps in the business' compete reconcept into a Central European restaurant and sandwich shop. CONTESTS - On Sunday Aug. 28th, Scala's Bistro's is holding a bloody Mary face-off. Bartenders from 15 Romolo, Scala's, Delarosa, Cotogna, Rye and more will prepare their twist on the beloved brunch drink. AL FRESCO WIRE - Larkspur's The Tavern at Lark Creek is starting a Sunday "Biergarten" this weekend to fill up the after-brunch lull. A new afternoon menu, including a jumbo homemade pretzel, will be on offer from 2:00pm to 5:30pm. Live music and lots of beer is also promised. [EaterWire]
