SoMa's New AQ Restaurant Will Transform With the Seasons

As many restaurant owners have done these days, the owners of SoMa's future AQ Restaurant & Bar have started a KickStarter fund to help speed them towards a planned Fall opening. Said owners, as GrubStreet noted a bit ago, are Princeton grad Matt Semmelhack and chef-owner Mark Liberman, who worked with Daniel Boulud and Joel Robuchon before becoming chef de cuisine at La Folie. Not to shabby in the resume department, indeed. See above, the historic, 104-year-old space architect Martin Heid has to play with is no slim pickings either.

It'll be built-out with an open kitchen, chefs counter, a bar, and then the press release says, "as the seasons change, the look and feel of AQ will change accordingly." Of course, this immediately brings New York's Park Avenue Winter/Park Avenue Spring to mind. Although it's not known if they'll be doing anything like what NY design firm AvroKO does, this design stunt does shed some light on where some of that 25K may be going. The curious can find more information and menus on this early website, here.
