REVAMPS - After a week of renovations, Ciao Bella gelateria reopened today at the Ferry Building with more sustainable, natural design features. The only real aesthetic difference is these colorful, recycled tiles you see here. They've also done some resurfacing with Forest Stewardship Council-certified oak and there are some counter-height tables coming in soon. Mangia. [EaterWire]
VIDEO INTERLUDE - The (hilarious) Necessary Conversation ladies just posted a nine minute video from SF Chefs with lots of revelations. For starters, Chris Cosentino admits he actually won't eat some things: stinky tofu, natto or balut (fertilized egg embryo), Ms. Tablehopper says crab cakes are "iffy" in general and Smuggler's Cove's Marco Dionysos says he's "way over the angst of the mojito." If you could use a chuckle, here you go. [EaterWire, NC]
THE SHUTTER - Those planning an outing to Alameda's Acapulco Mexican joint should reconsider. After an epic 58-year run, the restaurant has closed and Inside Scoop has its goodbye note. [ISSF]
MENU WIRE - Finally, San Francisco gets a six course champagne and strawberry menu. It's at 25 Lusk. What took you guys so long? [SFoodie]
CRITIC'S PICKS - Today 7x7 food editor Sara Deseran shares her "favorite go-to Asian noodle dishes" with the world: Betelnut's Malaysian curry laksa, King of Thai Noodle's Rad Na, Katana Ya's spicy tofu ramen, Turtle Tower's pho ga and Mifune's Zaru soba. Anyone else have an opinion on this? Share it , please. [7x7]
