Sonoma's Underage Invasion, Local Kitchen Opens, More

UNDERAGE - According to the Fermentation blog, there's an outbreak of Sonoma Valley teens loitering outside wineries with elaborate scams to nab bottles of wine. Here's a sample plea: "Hey, sir...would you mind picking up a couple of bottles of Grenache for me? I lost my ID and I'm supposed to bring a couple of bottles to a dinner party with old friends." This has never happened to anyone in our offices, so if you've fallen victim to this sort of fraud, do tell . [F]

NOW OPEN- Right on time, Local Cafe unleashes its very first morning scones and lunch-time egg salad sandwiches onto Piedmont Ave. today in Oakland. With a name like that and a chef that's worked at such cult-favorites as Pizzaiolo and Camino, Oakland's interest is—for the most part—piqued. Dinner drops next month. [ISSF]

ON THE MARKET - Inside Scoop notes that Pizzeria at 659 Valencia Street is up-for-grabs in addition to the adjacent NY Buffalo Wings that's been openly on the market for a while now. All this in addition to the sad news of Leticia Luna's recent loss. [ISSF, EaterWire, earlier]

MENU WIRE - Vegansaurus! points out that the menu is live on the website for Lyfe Kitchen, due to open before September in Palo Alto. This is what happens when former McDonald's execs and Oprah's private chef get together with a renowned vegan chef. Gardein Burgers! Think it'll stick? [v!]

PARKLET WARS - Caffe Roma has been taking some extra liberties with its parklet. According to SF Citizen, management recently took it upon themselves to kick someone off their cafe chairs because they were eating food from somewhere else. But the Pavement to Parks website clearly states that all parklets are pubic space. [SF Citizen]
