Have Lunch With Alice Waters Tomorrow on Maiden Lane

Filling out the Chez Panisse 40th Anniversary hoopla, everyone's favorite world-renowned farm-to-table activist Alice Waters will officially add "t-shirt designer" to the long list of achievements on her resume. Tomorrow Levi's is throwing a party for her on Maiden Lane from 12:30 to 2 p.m., honoring the release of the %100 organic limited edition t-shirts she and her friends designed to benefit The Edible Schoolyard Project. Those friends, mind you, are David Byrne, Sofia Coppola, Dave Eggers and Maira Kalman. Take a look at their respective t-shirt styles here.

That's not all. Ms. Waters will be on-hand, in-the-flesh, signing copies of her new book 40 Years of Chez Panisse, The Power of Gathering, there will be live jazz and—of course—sustainable, organic eats. They're handing out 500 free boxed lunches "modeled after the ideal school lunch" and offering pulled Soul Farms Chicken sandwiches and Alice's favorite figs from Knoll Farm to the masses. Suggested donation for the event is $5 and all proceeds from this and t-shirt sales go to The Edible Schoolyard Program. So what's up with the Levi's collaboration?, you might ask. "Levi's has got a real social justice message these days," says PR man David Prior, "We love them."
