Tell Tale Preserve Company Shutters, Free Pancakes, More

THE SHUTTER - Pastry chef William Werner has been forced to close his well-liked, year-old Tell Tale Preserve Company due to a failed partnership with the mysterious Whisk Group. Their last local cafe deliveries and Ferry Plaza farmers market appearances will take place this weekend. As SFoodie pointed out earlier this week, the current shadiness of Whisk calls the likelihood of their other in-the-works projects, Brasserie Lille and the return of Aqua into question. THE SHUTTER EXTRA - Hate to pile on all this sad shutter news on a Friday, but here goes. The over-20-year-old SoMa Snack Depot is closing in less than one month. Despite loads of community support, the landlords are ousting them for higher rent payers. Just goes to show you need more than community support to stay above ground. [SFoodie]

POP-UPS - The Bernal Supper Club will be popping up every Monday in September at The Corner. Take a look at this Bernalwood slideshow of food porn from the last dinner and see what you think. [Bernalwood]

FREEBIE WIRE - Those willing to "discuss issues affecting the community" on Sunday will be awarded with a free pancake breakfast at Senator Yee's Annual Community Breakfast. Or stay home, discuss trivial issues and eat homemade pancakes. It's your Sunday. [SF Citizen]
