Don Pistos' Fried Chicken-Serving Pop-Up Cometh, and More

New, 1 comment

NORTH BEACH - Vacation Hopper finds out that Don Pistos' noodle house/raw bar/fried chicken pop-up at Amante will be called Chubby Noodle. Reading between the lines here, it sounds like the "out-of-hand" fried chicken is really the way to go. The target first day of service is Sept. 9. [Hopper]

KELLERVERSE - FoodGal tries out the new Addendum kiosk at Ad Hoc, where you can now get T-Kell's famous fried chicken and BBQ Thurs. through Sat. during the lunch hour. Word of wisdom: "Addendum makes only about 200 orders of lunch each day. So, when it’s gone, it’s gone. And on busy Saturday afternoons, that means you’d be wise to get there before 1 p.m. or face the prospect of going hungry." Now lets have a face-off between Chubby Noodle and T-Kell. [FoodGal]

CRIME - The past few days have seen two Mission restaurant/club employees fall victim to stray bullets. The first was early Saturday morning during a robbery on the 600 block of Mission St. (GrubStreet speculates the location is Fluid Ultra Lounge.) The second victim was a 22-year-old man who was shot in the head outside Hog & Rocks after midnight last night. Police think it was a gang shooting gone awry as the victim was probably a restaurant employee. [ABC, SF Appeal]

APPS - SFoodie has some thoughts on the new Tiny Review app that aims to disseminate three-word restaurant reviews: summaries like "ok. I guess.," "Yummy Delicious Treat," and "Best time evahh." Their verdict? "A Bad Idea." [SFoodie]
