THE MISSION - Inside Scoop has the latest from 598 Guerrero St., former site of Ebb & Flow and shattered Mission Beach Cafe dreams. The new concept moving in to the prized Mission position shall be an izakaya: Izakaya Yuzuki, to be exact. Owner Yuko Hayashi says its going to be more traditional than most of the izakaya concepts that've flooded the Bay Area of late. Takashi Saito, who's worked at Ame and Nojo, will be the chef. [ISSF]
THE MISSION EXTRA - Starting today, there are chilaquile bloody Marys at Blind Cat in the Mission. That's on top of the usual free bbq. Tell us if you try it. [MM]
CHIARELLO WIRE - Sir Michael Chiarello of Bottega, Food Network and Lexus fame, will have his signature meals on board select Delta transcontinental flights by September. It's well known that 30% of your taste-buds' capacity is lost in the air. Chiarello did his best to combat that with "more flavorful food," and certain favorites pulled straight from the menu at Bottega. [EaterWire]
REVAMPS - As pastry chef Luis Villavelazquez's updates near their debut in the famed La Victoria pastry case, The Feast reports that he's going to start doing special Sunday Mexican dinners this weekend. His planned "Super Nachos" with "layers of rabbit confit, burnt nopales (cactus), and black truffle cream" should give an idea of what's in store. [The Feast]
FUN LEGAL THINGS - SFoodie just spotlighted a new California law that exempts brewery tasting rooms from the same Health Department scrutiny applied to restaurants. The newly signed Tasting Room Bill places "places brewery tasting rooms on equal footing with winery tasting rooms" in terms of health codes. [SFoodie]
