Take a moment for the latest edition of Shit People Steal, in which we ask restaurateurs what items in their restaurant have been (or are frequently) stolen.
Nojo chef-owner Greg Dunmore writes in with alarming news about a Friday theft during the rush of service:
"Some dudes stole one of our custom made outside tables...unbelievable because it is super heavy!!! These were tables made by a very good friend, so they mean a lot to me. The table top is a solid reclaimed Redwood block, 4 inches thick and 42 inches tall [pictured, right]. The base is wrought iron, made to look like old metal milk crates, with a solid iron square base. I reviewed video footage yesterday. These jokers must live close."
Dumore says he's hoping to get images of the thieves from the restaurant's security cameras to post around Hayes Valley. In the mean time, if you know anything about the table crooks, drop a line. Other restaurant theft stories can be sent over the EaterWire.
