Al FRESCO WIRE - Uptown Almanac has a status check on Mission restaurants and bars that are gunning for outdoor seating. Pica Pica and Hog & Rocks should be adding sidewalk seating soon, and then there's the case of The Napper Tandy, which is now having its second go at a patio on 24th Street. They tried before in 2003 "but spent too much time dealing with the homeless and their carriages," so they closed it down. [UA]
EXPANSION WIRE - Sandbox Bakery owner Mutsumi Takehara is planning to open another business across the street on Cortland called Eat at 903. At this point, all we know is that Takehara will offer "an expanded menu" and the restaurant will be open for breakfast, lunch and takeout dinner. [SFoodie]
PARTY TIME - If the twitter is to be believed, Bourbon Steak is throwing a "Chef's Night Out" party this evening from 9 p.m. to 11 p.m., promising $5 "industry specials" and "networking." [Twitter]
CHARITY - Hog & Rocks says a good number of supporters showed up for their fundraising event yesterday in honor of slain worker Gaspar Puch-Tzek. They're continuing the silent auction fundraiser via Facebook until Friday. Check out the prizes from the likes of Absinthe, RN74, Cowgirl Creamery and many, many more and place your bets, here. CHARITY EXTRA - Inside Scoop has a teaser look at some of the pages for next year's "Chefs of the Bay Area” Meals on Wheels calendar, featuring a dozen local chefs posing for the camera. Think David Bazirgan wielding a huge fish and Yigit Pura covered in glitter. The calendars are available now here, and there's even a calendar kick-off party you can go to. All proceeds from the calendar and the event go to Meals on Wheels. [ISSF]
SWITCHEROOS - The liquor license wires show that Vietnam Too restaurant at 701 Larkin St. has become Sao Bien, under new ownership as of this past Sunday. The owner says the restaurant will still be Vietnamese, although the prices and menu are both "a little bit different." He told our Eater operatives that he's still tinkering with the menu, but he's sure the customers "will still like it." [EaterWire]
