MARINA - Inside Scoop has the skinny on Castagna, the new business going into the former Crave City slot on Chestnut. Jerome and Stephane Meloni, the men of now-shuttered Cassis, will operate an all-day 18-seat cafe. They're going the affordable route, starting with breakfast and lunch. Dinner will roll out with the liquor license, whenever that happens. [ISSF]
POP-UPS - Le Diner a San Francisco, a Parisian pop-up dinner where everyone brings their own food, wine, and tableware to a secret, "elegant," "only in SF," location and dresses all in white, will take place on October 14th. There's only room for 1000 people, so get on this quick. Here are pictures of the NY event, which narrowly avoided shitshow-dom, and turned out ok in the end. [EaterWire, ENY]
BOOZEWIRE - Alameda-based St. George Spirits is releasing three new gins: the "fresh, elegant" Botanivore, "juniper-driven" Dry Rye Gin, and earthy, woodsy Terroir Gin. All of them will be available here next week. Or drop into the tasting room and have a little distillery tour and emotional support with your gin. [EaterWire]
THE TWITTERVERSE - If you were at Incanto last night, you saw Morimoto digging in: "great meal at #Incanto in SF last night. Thanks @offalchris." [Twitter]
SAD NEWS DEPT. - The family of the man that was killed outside Hog & Rocks earlier this week is raising money to take his body home to Mexico for burial. Mission Loc@l has the details: "If you wish to donate, you can stop by Hog & Rocks at 3431 19th Street, or go to a Wells Fargo branch and ask to make a donation to account number 3114477635." [ML@]
