Here's your rare chance to consume a sit-down, six-course dinner prepared by Traci Des Jardins, Ron Siegel, Melissa Perello, Joseph Humphrey, Bill Corbett, Bruce Hill, and even more big-name chefs. Michael Mina has invited 14 of his esteemed former chef colleagues to join him in the kitchen at Michael Mina on October 9 in honor of his culinary career's 20th year. Mina himself will partner up with his old boss and mentor at Aqua, the George Morrone, to make the third course, which may or may not include some very fresh, very rare George Morrone tears. Executive chefs at Mina's other local restaurants, Bourbon Steak, RN74, and Michael Mina will make the canapes, and all of the wines featured will be among Michael's personal favorites. Upping the elbow-rubbing possibilities, Boulevard chef-owner Nancy Oakes, Lark Creek's Bradley Ogden, La Folie's Roland Passot, and Gary Danko will all be there, eating.
As many of you bright students probably already realized, this whole thing is doubly poignant! Mina got his start at the defunct Aqua (in October, 1991), which has morphed into the now one-year-old flagship Michael Mina restaurant (opened in October, 2010), and this dinner we're talking about is in October, so there's a universe-is-connected, cyclical kind of depth included in the $500 ticket price. There is also a top-secret after party. Proceeds for the dinner go to All-Stars Helping Kids. For even more of the nitty gritty, Haute Living has copied the press release here. Be advised, the limited tickets available for this event have already begun to sell steadily, so if you're interested, call the restaurant soon to reserve.
